Elliott M. Loew:
Mr. Loew has been affiliated with the Newton SouthEast Little League, formerly the Newton South Little League, since 1971, and a member of its Board of Directors since 1976, having served numerous terms as President and Vice President. The Newton SouthEast Little League serves approximately 350 boys and girls annually. Mr. Loew has been the League’s Umpire-in-Chief and General Counsel for a number of years.
Mr. Loew has been a member of the Board of the Newton Babe Ruth League, and a baseball coach in the league since 1976. He is the coach of the 15u Newton Babe Ruth League Tournament Team which competes in the State Tournament each summer.
Mr. Loew has been a special instructor of law at Newton North High School since 1980. He created the curriculum for "Law and Society", a civil litigation course for high school seniors. Each half year course ends with the students preparing and conducting an actual trial in the local courthouse.
Mr. Loew was the lawyer/coach of the Newton North High School Mock Trial Team from 1990 – 2004 and again from 2019-2020. The Mock Trial Team competes annually in the Massachusetts Bar Association Statewide High School Mock Trial Tournament. Newton North captured the State Championship in 1990, 1991, 1992, 1996, 1997 and 1998 and competed in the National High School Mock Trial Tournaments all over the country, where two of those teams finished third in the country.
From 2006-2018, Mr. Loew was the lawyer/coach of the Newton South High School Mock Trial Team, which won the Massachusetts State Championship in 2008 and secured a 12th place finish in the country. Mr. Loew has been the lawyer/coach of the Wellesley High School Mock Trial team since its inception in 2022.
Mr. Loew lectures locally on the topic of “Divorce: The Impact on the Family” and to businesses on various litigation topics.
For many years, Mr. Loew taught the course “Starting Your Own Business” in the Newton Community Schools / Adult Education program.
Among other tributes, Mr. Loew has been the recipient of the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Volunteer Recognition Award, the Newton Teachers Association “Friend of Education” award, the City of Newton Judge Franklin N. Flaschner Adult Award, and the NSELL’s Bob Gelles Outstanding Contribution Award.
